Transport Mafia does not discriminate against the non transport folks. We don't discriminate against outside plant, or even hicap. We love you all. Join us. (Even large ISP transport guys, email your ASN instead of the information below - just remember it's focused on telco and transport, not necessarily IP routing, etc)
When signing up, please send an email to paul@timmins.net noting one of the following:
Your employer's (or the company you contract for's):
OCN
ACNA
a CLLI code of a central office you work at, or have colocation in
A pointcode for one of your switches
One of your LRNs
Or some other evidence you're not a PBX tech or end customer. This is to prevent against infiltration by the very people we're whining about.
Vent, discuss technology, just keep your CPNI to yourself. Don't mention customers by name, redact phone numbers, all the crap you signed when you got employed still applies here. Your bosses could have infiltrated the list, you never know.
CLEC, ILEC, Wireless, we don't discriminate. We want to talk about things like outages, stupid bugs in gear, ask suggestions on hardware, vent about the ridiculous requests customers sometimes make, whatever.
VoIP providers are not excluded. But resellers don't count. You have to have hardware, and paying customers on it. We're not gonna audit your books or anything, but emailing a SIP url for a real PSTN number that we can send an invite to that is in the same domain as a website that describes the service would be a good way to demonstrate you are truly a provider. (for example, if you're from voipprovider1, and you submit a valid url of sip:2481231234@sip.voipprovider1.com and www.voipprovider1.com talks about selling VoIP services, and looks legit, and 2481231234 goes to the same place when dialed with an SBC/Verizon POTS line, you're good to go)
Subscribe from your personal address please. Don't get fired because the corporate mailserver catches an F-Bomb being dropped on the list.
Ex employees are cool too, as long as you don't start whining about PBXen and crap, unless you're whining about how stupid and broken the PBX gear is from the carrier perspective.
